‘Wi-Fi’ is the latest buzzword for education campuses. A Wi-Fi solution provides its users internet access over a wireless local area network (LAN). Users can access digital content through Wi-Fi on their laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), radio frequency identification (RFID) devices and voice over internet telephony (VOIP) handsets. While most school and college campuses in the US, UK, Australia and south east Asian countries like Singapore and Hong Kong are already Wi-Fi enabled, this is a relatively new concept in India. “In fact, it was introduced in India only in 2006,” says Saurabh Vatsa, general manager for product marketing, Ozone, a networking solutions provider.
Wifi offers so many things that it is a must nowadays on campuses.Wi-fi on campuses provide easy access to online information that is meant for students, faculty and researchers.Virtual classroom, online library, web conferencing, access to online research material, daily classroom schedules, grade reports and school transcripts are a few classic examples of Wi-Fi utilities.
But its regulation is also neccesary for proper use of information. Moreover just setting up of network does not ensure a continuous connectivity so constant service and maintenance is necessary to have a smooth functioning. So now we can say bye bye to old methods and welcome a fun filled, full of energy campus with wifi connect. enjoy!
